Welcome guys! I am super excited to share my Genius Project Journey with you all. I am currently in the early development stages of producing and committing to a solid idea. Many ideas have floated in and out of my head, but are hard to commit to due to doubts on the need, execution, and commonly occurring constraints such as time, money, and skills needed to complete each project. However doubts aside, I have two main ideas I am toying with.
My first idea is centered around trying to help other high school students find and schedule tutoring sessions with peers, teachers and local tutors. I believe the best way to tackle this would be through a mobile application. The app will be designed to help high school students schedule tutoring sessions right from the palm of their hand. I have already started to toy with some mobile application development wire framing tools to see how this would play out in real life, I and I believe it is feasible. The app design will be simple and easy to use; it would implement a familiar social app layout similar to that of Instagram or Snapchat. There will also be two main "communities" on the app. By "communities" I mean that there would be an option to either use the app as a tutor or use the app as a student. As a student you would have the option to view tutor profiles and schedule a tutoring session. Using the app as a tutor, you are able to set up a profile, manage, reject, and accept tutoring sessions and receive payments through the app. while there are many more logistic that need to be figured out I believe that my app idea could be something exciting in the future.
My second idea stems from my passions of photography / videography. I have an idea to create a documentary about the "hidden" faculty that work in our school district. Everyday we see and interact with teachers, principals, counsellors and coaches with in our district. But, have you ever stopped to think about all the other faculty that work "behind the scenes" to contribute to our academic learning environment? Have you ever thought about all the custodians that work diligently to make our schools clean and safe, or the maintenances worker that trims the grass fields early in the morning, or maybe the internal district workers that plan and make sure we have funding for quality curriculums. Everyone has a story to tell that is inspired by previous life experiences worth sharing. The purpose of my documentary would be to educate, inspire and encourage an interconnected learning community where individuality thrives.
As I continue to explore my own passions and how they could connect to the community in a positive way, I am sure some of these ideas may change.
